For as odd as this year has been, one thing that we’ve still been able to do is hit up the beach. In fact, we’ve gone a lot more than we usually do. It’s not even August and we’ve been to Ocean City, Rehoboth, and the Jersey Shore twice on top of visiting family in Ohio several times.

If you’re unfamiliar with the DC area, the “Delmarva” Peninsula (Delaware, Maryland, Virginia) is roughly 3 hours away and is a major spot for city folk to sneak away for a bit. Doing a day trip is not ideal, but can be done if you want to avoid staying in a hotel or renting a house. Just make sure you’re on the road no later than 5:30 AM to secure a beach spot and pack some patience with you because traffic leaving the beach can get bad.

Anyway, since my post about Rehoboth last week, I’ve had several requests for a beach bag post. I should give one caveat–I’m a MAJOR planner so I hope this helps for those of you who maybe aren’t.. It might make me sound a little crazy, so bear with me. Enjoy!

Beach bag (old, similar HERE)

Fresh fruit

Nothing feels more grody than eating carby, bloaty foods whilst wearing a swimsuit. I always bring some fresh fruit and/or a frozen smoothie (that’s thawed by the time I arrive at the beach) to enjoy throughout the day. Yum.

My Absolute FAVORITE Swimsuit.

Swimsuit HERE

Seriously, y’all. This one is the BEST. It’s flattering. It’s comfortable. It stays up when a giant wave knocks you over (I speak from experience). It’s my favorite swimsuit I’ve ever owned.

Sunscreen that doesn’t give me cancer.

Call me a crazy person, but I’ll outlive all y’all who are using sunscreen with funky ingredients. Beauty Counter makes the BEST mist sunscreen that’s 100% clean and feels amazing on your skin. I don’t sell it but my pal Natalie does. She can be reached HERE.

Facial sunscreen that has anti-aging properties.

BEST Day Cream with SPF 20 HERE

One thing that is not fun about my skin is that it’s very prone to dryness, even in the summer when the humidity is like 1000000%. I put this day cream on in the morning and reapply at lunchtime. Like Beauty Counter, Arbonne is also 100% clean (and vegan and organic…) and it doesn’t get in your eyes when you sweat. Love.

My Kindle Paperwhite

Best eReader HERE

I never thought I’d make the switch from paper books to an eReader, but this Kindle Paperwhite is what helped me make the switch. I love that I can read it in the sun and there isn’t a glare.

Fizz Sticks.

Fizz Sticks in Strawberry HERE and Pomegranate HERE

.. If you know, you know.

These are the BEST on a hot day. All you do is add it to some cold water and it gives you energy (remember that 5 AM wakeup?) in the form of ginseng, B vitamins and a bit of caffeine (from green tea). I’m a coffee fiend and this makes a great substitute.

Face Wipes

Hear me out.

When you spend the entire day baking on the beach and THEN have to sit in your own dried sweat for 3+ hours when you’re driving back to DC… You might want these. THESE are actually my favorite, not the ones pictured.

Body wipes.

Read above. Trust me, these make a world of difference.

Aloe on Crack

No matter how much I apply sunscreen, without fail, I WILL ALWAYS miss a spot. Usually about an hour in to the drive back, I start to feel it (fortunately it’s usually only a square inch or two) and Arbonne’s Detox Gelee not only has aloe but other in it but it also rehydrates and makes your skin feel SO much better. I’ve even found that proactively applying it can prevent the sunscreen from fully setting it. I’m telling you, it’s a game changer.

Anyway, I hope this post is all you dreamed of and more. We have a solid two months of beach season left and I hope you found this helpful! Have a great Tuesday, friends!
