It’s no secret that I love all things celebration. When the weather starts to cool down, I can’t help but embrace the season, be it through special baking, a seasonal movie or fun decor. With Halloween right around the corner, I thought I’d share some of my favorite ways to embrace October/November in DC! Fall here is so slow but it is so pretty! I can’t believe we’re at the end of October and the leaves are still green in to many areas… It just makes for more time to enjoy the foliage, right?

Enjoy a fall festival.

There is no shortage of plaid-clad fall chicks in the DMV so fall festivals can get absolutely, positively mobbed… But I still love them. Some great ones are at Cox Farms in Chantilly, VA and Great Country Farms, in Bluemont, VA.

Take a Ghost Tour

The DC area has some FANTASTIC ghost tours. Old Town is an obvious one–the area is so historical that there are obviously some creepy happenings that have gone on throughout the years. If you’re willing to venture a bit, the ghost tours in Frederick, MD are SO legit and so are the ones in Gettysburg, PA.

Check out a local brewery

My latest obsession (and I mean obsession–talk to me for more than five minutes and I’ll definitely mention it) is Lost Barrel Brewery. Talk about perfection–great beers, amazing views and their live music is unparalleled. Plus I just adore Middleburg, VA where it’s located. It’s preppy Virginia perfection.

Bake away

What’s more cozy than a chilly afternoon with something in the oven? I’ll tell you–the answer is NOTHING. (HERE is my trusty sugar cookie recipe; here are the pumpkin cheesecake snickerdoodles)

Take a Walk in Georgetown

This is one neighborhood that certainly does NOT half-ass fall. The area around Tudor Gardens is my personal favorite 🙂

For as much as I’m inclined to whine about living in the DC area, I do love the gorgeous and fun fall here! I hope you can get out an enjoy the festivities some time soon!
