I don’t know what was up with me this week but I barely took any pictures! That’s often a sign that I’m having fun, though, and that’s certainly been true! Enjoy this week’s journal!
Recipe of the Week
Not a recipe per se, but have you all had the cacio e pepe from Trader Joe’s? It’s in the frozen section and OHHHHH MYYYYY GOSHHHH is it good. I am VERY picky with Italian food and this dish was all I ever dreamed of and more. At around $4 per bag (could serve two people or one solo-living female. Ahem), it’s not altogether cheap for pasta, but if you add grilled chicken you had a delish meal. HIGHLY recommend.
Currently Drinking
My parents’ club has been running a drink special that I’m obsessed with–bourbon peach iced tea. It’s very much peach season up here and this really gets you in the spirit. A shot of bourbon, a shot of peach schnapps and iced tea. Yum.
Currently Watching
After a multiple-week hiatus from TV watching, Jim talked me in to watching a Ghost Adventures episode. I’m not proud of it, but I freaking love that show. Is Zach an extreme weirdo? Yes. Is Aaron a teensy bit dramatic, thus enhancing the entertainment value? Also yes!

I flew through Code Name Helene, as I do seemingly every World War II-era book. It’s SO good.
Currently Listening
I don’t know what’s been up, but lately I’ve really been valuing silence. As I write this, I’m listening to the hum of the AC and nothing else. When I’m in the car, I might turn on talk radio, but lately I haven’t been as much… It’s been nice not to constantly have noise. I recommend a little noise break every so often.
This Week’s Adventures
Well, I’m back in Ohio and have been since this past Sunday. I’ll be here through Labor Day weekend and we have a ton of fun plans. Jim will come up for the weekend and I’m very excited to send summer off in style.
Before I left, we had a little date night at Matchbox and look what was embedded in our table!
When I got up here, I went to get carryout and noticed this little gem that I had forgotten about. Nothing says small town America quite like a brew through.
I rearranged my condo four times. I think *maybe* I have it set up how I like it. For now. I hung pictures that I’m 99% sure are crooked, though, so that’ll need to be addressed ASAP. Sigh.
Current Hobbies
Have I mentioned I bake sourdough? (that was a joke). I think I’m getting better at it. I think.
Oh, and I’m doing some home decor. My vision? “Italian nautical.”
Other Things to Note
As I write this on Tuesday night, I haven’t had a face-to-face conversation with another human being (with the exception of sales associates) since Sunday and I’m LOVING it. It’s times like this that I realize what an introvert I am. I know I’ll be craving human interaction soon but until then, the solitude sure is nice.
