Spread the love

It feels like it’s been a while since I’ve shared some of our local brewery finds! A few weeks ago, Jim and I ventured over to Prince George’s county, which is an area we rarely explore.  Since I’d been in Hyattsville, I swear it’s gotten even cuter. It seriously is a hipster paradise, full of fun breweries, shops and restaurants… But, dare I say, the beer is the best.

If you’re a beer fan who’s not on the Untappd App, you’re seriously missing out! Any time I mention the star rating, I’m referring to the rating on the Untappd app!

Streetcar 82

Going to Streetcar 82 has been on my to do list, no joke, since March 2019. They were vendors at the CF Brewer’s Ball and I distinctly remember them because all the people who work there are deaf! (and I got to practice my 4th grade ASL).  I always have had a love for the disability community so, if I’m being honest, that was the sole reason I wanted to go there. Fast forward to me having a beer in hand and ho-ly smokes, it was love at first sip. Jim has become quite picky about his beer (I blame his friend) and he also said it was some of the best beer he’s ever had in the area.  I had the “Paddy Workin’ On the Railway” (4/5 stars) and Jim had the Strassenbahn and loved it!

Franklin’s

Right down the street from Streetcar 82 is Franklin’s .  Not only is the brewery cool, but the whole building is an all-around experience! There’s a fun variety shop on the first floor.  If you need a magic kit, look no further.  There’s also a great restaurant and “tiki bar,” which will be amazing when the weather gets warm. As far as actual beer goes, I’m always a fan of unique varieties so I tried the honey beer (named HVL) and loved it! I doubt I’d be able to have more than one (sweet beers and Brittany don’t mix well) but really enjoyed it.  Jim had the Private IPA and gave it 3 out of 5 stars.  One final note- the people here were exceptionally friendly, which made the experience even better!

If you’re like me and seldom venture east of the city, maybe consider it this weekend!  PG county was pretty restrictive for a while, so the businesses there deserve all the love they can get!  Cheers!

Have you discovered any new breweries in the area? We’re always on the search for new haunts and would love to know your favorites!
