I am writing this post on a May day when it’s still quite chilly. To say that I’m craving a summer at the lake would be an understatement. It’s simply gorgeous up there in the summertime and I’m looking forward to three blissful months of pool days, boating, and sipping drinks while overlooking the water.

Today I wanted to talk about one of my favorite places in Catawba, Twin Oast Brewery.

Now, Twin Oast is not your typical brewery; when I think brewery, I think converted garage. Twin Oast is GORGEOUS. It’s built over what was an orchard and it just feels full of life and luxurious. I also love that it’s decidedly a “chill” vibe; you won’t find a heavy metal band playing at Twin Oast and you won’t see drunken debauchery.

The Beers

Not only is Twin Oast gorgeous but they have some amazing beers that are made right on site.

I really like the Apricatawba and the (summer seasonal) Kelley’s Island pilsner. Jim usually drinks the Legitimate Swells, which is a fantastic IPA.

The Food

I’m not sure if this was a Covid thing or what but Twin Oast does this brilliant thing called “Quick Apps,” which is appetizers that come out very quickly! So, when you’re super hungry, they make for great snacks! I also particularly love their pizza kitchen.. Is there anything better than pizza and beer? Answer? No.

The Festivals

Twin Oast does a few festivals throughout the summer and they’re always a blast. Last year we went to Apricot Festival (early July) and wound up spending WAY too much time in the petting zoo. I mean…

Final thoughts.

Give me a summer evening with tepid weather and it’s likely I’m at Twin Oast. I love the ambiance, food and beer. The live music has been hit-or-miss when I’ve visited before but I’ve always had fun.

Twin Oast is most certainly not a place to get sloppy and there’s a hard stop at 10 PM (last call at 9:30), even on the weekends. If you’re looking for a chill summer night, look no futher.

I can’t wait to get back!
