Perhaps the top question I get is, “how do you do it all?” I’ll admit it; I keep what would be an insane schedule for most people, but I love every second of it. Most people know that I have some ambitious goals in life and one way to reach them is to work a LOT while I’m able. I know life chapters will change and I want to make the most of the chapter I’m in now. Today I wanted to share some ideas on getting your life together when you work as much as I do.

Work your a off at your day job

No matter if your boss knows if you side hustle or not, you need to give your 9-5 your all. I’m assuming most of your income is coming from your 9-5, so it needs to be your highest priority. Skip breaks. Take on extra work. Contribute to meetings. Work extra at night (if needed). Show them that you value your work and go the extra mile.

Outsource

Since your life is probably a little bit nuts, it’s possible that you don’t have time for the day to day chores like cleaning, cooking, grocery shopping, carpool duties, etc. Fortunately in this day and age, there are plenty of people you can hire to do those! Utilize Instant Cart. Hire a babysitter. Bring in a housekeeper once a week. Try a prepared meal plan. Will all these things cost more than if you were to do them yourself? Of course, but you have to weight the opportunity cost. If you’re able to work an extra hour at your side hustle that will make you $150 and hiring a cleaning lady for $80 that will save you four hours… You can see the value there.

Set aside work hours for your side hustle that are just as sacred as your 9-5

My friends know that I’m 100% unavailable from 9 AM-8 PM. I’m working from 9-5 and then I’m working again (side hustling, if you will) from 5-8. Does it make for a crazy schedule? Yes. Have I missed out on social things? Yes. It is worth it? HELL yes. Once you establish a routine and people know that you’re off the grid for a certain amount of time, they’ll know that they can only reach you at certain times. For me, I love to hang out with friends and have date nights on the weekends. Working extra during the week makes my weekends that much sweeter. When things that sound fun come up, I have the self-discipline to prioritize work, knowing that I can make up for it on the weekends.

Turn off all distractions

The place I work best? Airplanes! Why? Because no one can text or call me when I’m in the air. I’m also too much of a cheapskate to buy airplane Wifi. The same goes for work. I get so much more done both with my 9-5 as well as working and promoting my side hustle when all distractions are OFF. I put my phone in airplane mode (unless I need to make calls) and get grinding. Trust me when I say that it makes all the difference in the world!

Work smarter, not harder

Consider things you can automate. Is part of your business model includes Pinterest, invest in Tailwind. Does it involve cold calling? Consider hiring someone to be your outreach coordinator for a few hours a week. Is your business model easy to teach and replicate? Hire someone to do what you do and take a cut.

One of my favorite things in life is helping people dream up and execute their side hustles and I hope you find this information helpful! Am I missing a tip? I’d love to know how you juggle your side hustle and 9-5 in the comments section below! Have a great weekend, friends!
