Spread the love

As I’m writing this, there’s an impending snow and ice storm here in the DC area. One thing I’ve really enjoyed about this area is that the winters tend to be significantly more mild than Ohio’s, but we still get a “snack” of winter, if you will.

Since I am a bit of a pro in the snow day world, I thought I would share five fun things do to tonight after you’ve signed off of work this evening. Even though I grew up with it, I have to say that the winter blues are real this year.. Is it spring yet?

Anyway, enjoy!

Craft

My colleague (who hopefully won’t see this) lost his cat this past week so I am going to Cricut a little keepsake for his family.. I also really enjoy cross stitching and yes, am already working on stitched Christmas ornaments. I blame Carly and Krista (neither of whom I know IRL, but both have fantastic blogs… even if they’re both liberal).

Watch an old favorite movie

There are so many movies out there that I know I love but haven’t watched in YEARS. “One of these days,” I always say. Now that we’re snowed in, “one of those days” is today! I’m thinking Clueless. It’s such a classic!

Write cards to faraway friends

It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of snail mail. Instead of venturing out, why not write a little sunshine note to a friend in a different state?

Color

Stop snickering. Coloring is legit and is super fun for all ages! Plus it’s insanely relaxing. When was the last time you colored? There’s nothing like a snowy evening to have an excuse to color. THESE printable pages at Crayola are legit.

Make dog treats

If you’re observing Lent (like I am), it probably isn’t the time to be baking up a storm and eating chocolate chip cookies until the snow melts. Instead try making your pups some treats. HERE is my easy recipe that my dogs LOVE but there are plenty others on Pinterest.

How do you like to spend your snow days? I’m a freeze baby so any of the stereotypical: sledding, skiing, etc. are a definite no for me. Stay warm, all!
