Escape Room Live

I’ll admit that going to an Escape Room wasn’t the highest priority of mine.  It wasn’t like I was opposed to them, per say. It just wasn’t the type of thing I was inclined to do.  So, when my friend invited me to his birthday party, which began with an escape room, I went along for the ride. Oh. My.  Gosh….  You guys.  ESCAPE ROOMS ARE SO FUN!!!  It’s really…

Reynold’s Tavern Christmas Tea

Have I mentioned I love everything Christmas?  Because I really do… We did a Christmas tea at Reynold’s Tavern in Annapolis a few years ago, and I was so excited at the possibility of going back this year.  There’s something so girly about doing high tea and, while I don’t foresee myself doing it all the time, I loved it last Sunday.  To top everything off, it snowed in D.C. on…

ZooLights and the National Christmas Tree

I hate to admit this, but last year was my first time at ZooLights and this year was my first time going to see the National Christmas Tree.  SO bad, right?!  This is my NINTH Christmas season here in D.C., so the fact that it took me so long to take advantage of both of these long-standing traditions is kind of insane. The weather here, thanks be to God, has…

Bull Run and The Winery at Bull Run

To say that last weekend was as perfect as it comes would be an understatement.  Everything from the chill Thanksgiving morning, complete with the Macy’s Parade, cinnamon rolls and cozy blankets to shopping the sales on Friday and Saturday was amazing.  I am still basking in the perfection of this time off with my love. On Sunday, Jim and I had intentions of doing a hike in the Shenandoah, but…

Sharp Rock Winery

I named my blog what I named it for a reason.  Few things I enjoy more than a nice morning hike out in the Shenandoah, followed by an afternoon of wine drinking and cheese eating.  Call me Basic all you want, it’s pretty amazing.  Virginia Wine County is still a pretty well-kept secret, but, for me, it’s one of my favorite aspects of living in this area.  D.C. is a…

A Day at the Farm

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!  OK, I’m writing this a bit preemptively, so it’s not quite Friday in my world, but when this post goes live, it will be.  So, again, HAPPY FRIDAY!!! Last weekend, Jim and I ventured out to Great Country Farms in the gorgeous Bluemont, VA.  As a county mouse at heart, I always love making the trek away from the hustle and bustle of D.C., and Bluemont (only about…

DuCard Winery

[wysija_form id=”1″] Some days are better than others, and some days are downright fantastic.  Last Saturday, I ventured out to the Shenandoah with four of my favorite people for a hike and wine.  I never thought of myself as a “nature person,” mainly because I hate bugs and loathe being dirty.  Oh, and I don’t like being hot either.  But, since I moved to the D.C. area, I have learned…

$10 Pasta & Pizza at Graffiato

[wysija_form id=”1″] This is one of many reasons that I know I’ve become a DC person–when a $10 pizza sounds like the bargain of the century. A few weeks ago, Jim and I happened upon Graffiato, a Mike Isabella restaurant near the Verizon Center (and Old St. Mary’s, home to the shortest Sunday evening Mass in town).  My friend, Natalie, who used to live here, always used to rave about…

Cobbler Mountain

Once upon a time, I was a wine club member at Cobbler Mountain.  It was a great little perk, which included free wine tastings, access to the club room, all at the small price of a dozen bottles of wine.  Those days are over.  When I went to Cobbler Mountain a few weeks ago, I was beyond bummed to learn that they are phasing out their wine, and focusing on…

Great Falls and the C&O Canal Towpath

For as much as I would have adored a snow day this year, the weather in DC has been pretty amazing this winter.  As I was driving home from work today, I noticed that some trees are starting to blossom…  It’s FEBRUARY.  I’m scheduled to run the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler on April 2, and I have a feeling the trees will no longer be blossoming at that point; they’ll…
