Impulsive winery trips are sometimes the best.

Have I mentioned how much I looove Virginia wineries?

I think I might have…. 😉

Although it sounds like a retirement facility, Sunset Hills Vineyard in Loudon County, VA has been named Virginia’s favorite winery for 2011… And HOW was this my first visit, you ask? I don’t know either.

The atmosphere is gorgeous–the tasting room is an 1870 barn that was completely refurbished by the Amish… And we all know how much I love the Amish. One of the guys who work there took us downstairs for the grand tour. A private “chandelier room” is perfect for small events. While we were there, a wedding was being set up, AND there was live music in the “historic stone pavilion.” Did you know that pavilions could be historic? Because I didn’t.

The wine was terrific as well. Although I’m not usually a fan of steel chardonnays, theirs was light with just enough flavor.

Anyway, check it out. You won’t be sorry… And take a load of these pics. Sigh. Gorgeous!!
