Wednesday Weekly Journal: Volume 6

Recipe of the Week I decided to try my hand at making the Greek salad from a few weeks ago in to a flatbread and it did not disappoint. Naan+Feta+Olive Oil Spray–bake at 350 until crispy. Remove from the oven and top with tomatoes, cukes, dill and salt. It’s delish and oh-so summery. Anyone else having to eat in front of the computer a lot these days? Busy times! Currently…

24 Hours In Rehoboth Beach, DE

One thing I never fully understood about my fellow human beings is the desire to take long vacations. I can’t do it. I get too antsy and want to get back home and see my dogs and work (because I’m that weirdo who genuinely loves working) and cook in my own kitchen and sleep in my own bed. When it’s not a global pandemic, my perfect vacation length involves leaving…

Three of My Favorite Smoothie Recipes

If you follow me on Instagram (@basicbrittblog), you know that I rarely shut up about my daily smoothie fix. I’ve been an avid smoothie consumer for years but have only recently learned that, well, I’d been doing it wrong. As someone who is far from a carnivore, it wasn’t until I started macro tracking, which is a part of FASTer Way that I realized that I wasn’t even kind of…

Wednesday Weekly Journal: Volume 5

I can’t believe we’re at week five of Wednesday Weekly Journal, and they’re just as fun as ever. This week has been fantastic and I really feel like I’m hitting a major stride professionally. I’ve gotten to see some good friends, had some great conversations and enjoy the great outdoors, from the safety of the pavement where ticks do not dwell. I had my first (and last) tick a few…

I Know I’m Not The Only One Who Thinks This

While this is certainly a deviation from my normal person finance niche, I feel like I needed to say it. I intentionally waited to post anything police-related until things were at least somewhat settled from the nation’s recent (justifiable) upset. You’re going to be hard-pressed to find someone who thinks what happened to George Floyd was in any way, shape, or form justifiable, and I’m no exception. It was horrific…

Wednesday Weekly Journal: Volume 4

Gosh, what a week this has been. So, I alluded to this before but I had an accepted offer on a lake condo in Ohio. Wellllll, without going in to major detail, it fell through. I had planned on spending on a lot of time in Ohio this summer and now that’s all being pushed back. Anyway, I’m going to look at more properties soon but I’m not going to…

Five Major Money Mistakes I Made in my 20s

One of the many beauties of the internet is the wealth of information out there, especially from armchair experts such as myself. The truth is, if you’re willing to do your research, you can learn so much from peoples’ firsthand experiences. Today I thought I would share a bit of wisdom I learned along the way and I hope you find it valuable! I did not focus on making a…

Wednesday Weekly Journal: Volume 3

Hello hello and welcome back to another edition of the Wednesday Weekly Journal. Last week , I alluded to the fact that I’m working on buying an investment property and, well, let’s just say that it’s been more of a process than I expected. For obvious reasons, I can’t give much detail but it’s overall been quite stressful and I’m looking forward to having this whole debacle behind me. Other…

How To Plan a “Staycation”

This year sucks and I’m completely lamenting the fact that we are not currently packing our bags for the luxurious Mexican vacation we had planned for next week. Thankfully everyone in my life is healthy but that doesn’t make our lack of travel more than a little sad. I’m not the type of person who usually focuses on the negatives. In fact, I’m very much a “glass half full” kind…
